Datsun Go !

A lot has been said about the Datsun Go yet it is still being underrated.

I’ve spent some quality time with it and the word impressed is an understatement. Despite its lack in power when driving up hill as it has a 1.2L 3-cylinder engine pushing 50kW and 104Nm of torque, it stuck to the budget and made long distance trips fun. Filling up the Datsun Go is north of R450, which is what the doctor ordered for our current fuel prices.

At the launch emphasis was put on the car transporting you from a to b rather than relying on public transportation. And that’s it! That’s what it did! It literally does what they say it does, Thank you for reading my article 😹.

Apart from fulfilling the transportation needs the Datsun Go has a great infotainment system that is easy to operate whilst you focus on your driving. The support of Apple car play and Android auto makes that possible as it allows you to voice operate certain applications without having losing concentration as you drive.

It’ll cost you R165 500 to own one! Also you can take advantage of the inclusive 1 year insurance when you buy the new Datsun Go from R1 999 per month. The AA-Kinsey Report which looks into ownership and repair issues awarded the Datsun Go as the overall winner of the City Cars & Entry Level category. This is because the Datsun Go averages a parts basket total of R63,310 and best servicing cost price at R2,047. The repair basket is R8,846. Lastly, in the crash parts section, the Go is third with R52,416 which is R2,000 behind the leader.
